At the heart of the community

Children planting pots on the dropped kerb pavement area to stop people from parking here and causing a safety issue.

The School is a vital and integral part of the local community. Our pupils take an active role in village life, are involved in community activities and benefit from close contact with other community groups, including All Saints Church and Benger Bears Pre-School (which is sited next door to the School).

In addition, we work alongside the other village schools in our local cluster on joint activities such as writing moderation or sporting events.

Recently, we have been fortunate enough to appoint a School Crossing Patrol Officer to help families cross the busy High Street. Mrs Thorne, our new crossing patrol officer, is on duty every school day between 8:30am and 9:00am and again at 3:10pm until 3:40pm. We wish to thank our governors who helped to present a case for the village needing this crossing support for our children’s safety.

“The promotion of community cohesion extends to the inclusion of the church and other organisations in the community – there is an exciting sense of inclusion.” SIAMS July 2014.

Over the year we hold a number of parent workshops in order for parents and visitors to become more informed about the learning we do in school. In March 2019 we held an online safety workshop, led by Mr Richards and with contributions from classes across the school.

Early on in the academic year, we had an Art & Geography open afternoon for parents to join us in our learning. Previously we have also held these for Science, DT and Computing.
